The Department of Pediatrics, Immunology, Infectious and Rare Diseases was established as a structural unit of ERI “European Medical School” of International European University in September 2022.
The Department is clinical. It carries out educational, teaching and methodical, and scientific activities, international cooperation, as well as educational, diagnostic and therapeutic consulting work.
The Department team is a united team of like-minded people relying on the principles of a friendly attitude to students, respect for the individual, development of interest in the subject by providing opportunities for creative exposure, free expression of opinions, creating an atmosphere of mutual respect in the team and between lecturers and students.
The main goal of the Department is to organize students’ in-depth and creative learning of clinical disciplines related to the previously studied fundamental disciplines.
Key objectives:
to teach the discipline at the high educational, methodical, and scientific level
to develop students’ clinical thinking
to introduce the best achievements in global medicine to students/trainees
to carry out scientific research
to enhance the level of students’ general culture, to teach students to express their opinions and develop critical thinking.

2. Pediatrics (4th, 5th, 6th years)

4. Child infectious diseases
5. Phthisiology
Practical classes and lectures are taught in Ukrainian and English. Lectures are given using state-of-the-art multimedia technology. The test control of knowledge is widely used. Only the latest data based on the principles of evidence-based medicine are presented. Great attention is paid to the practical work of students.
To develop clinical thinking, students are provided with different forms of classes: independent preparation of presentations and clinical cases by students, role-playing games, examination of clinical cases, practicing skills of clinical case reports, formation of diagnostic and treatment algorithms.
The Department staff regularly take part in national and international conferences, conventions, and seminars.
All lecturers have publications in journals included in the Scopus and Web of Science databases.
All employees of the Department are members of the Ukrainian Association of Pediatric Immunology (www.vadi.org.ua), associate professor Stepanovskyi Y.S. is the Executive Director, aimed at developing the immunological service in Ukraine, assisting patients with primary immunodeficiencies, and improving immunoprophylaxis of infectious diseases in Ukraine.
Professor Bondarenko A.V. and associate professor Hilfanova A.M. are the founders and heads of the International Interdisciplinary Association of Medical Professionals (https://www.iiamp.org) aimed at solving interdisciplinary issues and disputes and achieving consensus for the benefit of the patient. They are also members of the Board of Directors of the Rare Immune Diseases Public Organization.
Associate professor Lapii F.I. is the Chairman of the Board of Parents for Vaccinations, a member of the Board of the Ukrainian Academy of Pediatric Specialties (UAPS), and the Chairman of the Committee on Vaccination.
Lecturers of the Department are experts involved in temporary or permanent working groups at the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in pediatric immunology, child infectious diseases, and support of public procurement for citizens.
Associate professor Fedir Lapii is the Head of the National Technical Expert Group on Immunoprophylaxis and the European Technical Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (ETAGE).
One of the crucial activity areas of the Department is therapeutic consulting work. The Department team closely cooperates with the clinical base teams.
Students and interns are extensively engaged in clinical work, consultations, and review of interesting clinical cases.
